Can I buy a car worth more than $2000 if I am on SSI?

I am on SSI. I have a little money saved up and want to purchase a dependable car. I know that your ets can't total more than $2000. Does that include cars? I mean you can't buy a decent car for that price. If I finance lets say a $6000 car. Is that ok?
