Satinwood vs eggshell?

I hate Gloss paint, i don't like the thickness, smell and sheen, so i want an alternative. I want either satinwood or eggshell. Now i already know eggshell is meant to be more of a matt finish but i want to know the other differences. I want the paint to be durable because i have kids and be able to easily wipe clean. I also want it to be a thin paint to apply...so i think i want an oil based paint? i really have no idea...can anyone help?
